We need balance

We approach the Equinox. This is the time of the year when day and night are equal – a time of balance. In the UK this will be at 20.20 on Wednesday 22 September.

It is a time of change, we are in a transition, we have the end of summer, and the beginning of Autumn.

Writing this on Tuesday evening, it has been such a lovely day, and feels more like Summer. I’m noticing the nights drawing in … but is that a bad thing, we can make changes in our lives, and do more Autumn based activity – jumping in piles of leaves, enjoying the slight chill in the air in the morning.

This is a good time to think on the extent that you have balance in your life, what do you want to find time and space for? What is filling your day and getting in the way of what you really want.

I almost added – DO; but many of us want to do less, and to have time just to be.

So perhaps this is the time to let go … to say goodbye to things you feel that you ought to do, rather than what you want to do.

ACTIVITY

Take some time to breath and get ready. Don’t rush straight into this.

Write down all the things that you no longer want in your life … and that can include the thoughts that you have that say that you can’t do this, or that.

Have somewhere safe that you can set fire to them. Perhaps on the concrete floor outside with a bucket of water next to you.

Read each one, then set them alight.

Do this with intention and take time to reflect both before and after.
