This is an amazing article written in 1999 by Peter Drucker.
I share this with clients who go through my Gold Career Programme. Many people want to focus on their weaknesses, and to ‘improve’ but the best that is likely to happen is that you go for weak to ok. It is far more important to concentrate on strengths, and what you do well, so you can do even better.
Peter Drucker says that you should:

  1. Concentrate on your strengths, and put yourself where your strengths can produce results.
  2. Work on improving your strengths
  3. Look for where you need to develop skills to enhance your strengths

It takes far more energy and work to improve from incompetence to mediocrity than it takes to improve from first rate performance to excellence.
